The primary feature from November until mid April is the world class skiing and snowboarding at Vail, Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead Mountains. However, that is far from the only activity to be found in the valley. Here is a sampling of the variety of recreational and seasonal offerings waiting for you to explore and enjoy:
McCoy Park trail system is located at the top of the Strawberry Park Express Lift at Beaver Creek. It is considered to be one of Beaver Creeks best kept secrets and features 32-plus kilometers of groomed and rustic Cross Country and Snowshoe trails. Nestled between Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch, McCoy Park offers wonderful views of 3 mountain ranges. A lift ticket is required and rental equipment is available at the Nordic Sport Center at the base of the lift. Many trails can be accessed by snowshoe without fees. The Beaver Lake trailhead begins above the Beaver Creek Chapel. This moderate to strenuous hike takes you through valley and wooded terrain to a remote alpine lake. Plan on about 3 hours round trip.
Guided tours of the surrounding mountain ranges take you through rugged terrain to fantastic vistas. Tours range from 2 hours to full day excursions. Snowmobile suits, boots & helmuts provided. Don't forget a camera to capture the action and views. Ages 14 or older can drive. For information and guide recommendations, please contact the resort staff.
This family friendly activity can be found in three area locations: Adventure Ridge on tip of Vail Mountain offers a multi lane tubing hill accessable by lift after 2:30pm. Meadow Mountain tubing hill is open daily and located just north of Minturn off I-70. Beaver Creek's Haymaker tubing hill is open from 1pm until dusk and offers multiple tubing lanes with lift access. There are hourly fees to access each location.
Experience the West with a horsdrawn afternoon sleigh ride around historic ranch grounds or sleighride dinners offered by area stables and restaurants. Or, for a once in a lifetime adventure guaranteed to be a highlight of your vacation, dogsledding is a great activity for all ages. Check with our staff for recommendations and reservations.
